A message from Dr. Michael Silva:

“Dr. Townsend’s work in treating patients with cancer and his commitment to the education of medical students and surgeons is worldly and local at the same time. He has the respect of colleagues across the globe and of patients here on the island shopping in Kroger’s. He is a model for how to live and practice in a community and his dedication to making UTMB a shining tower of light in the field of Surgery is unmatched.  I started working with Courtney as a medical student and now forty years down the road, I still welcome his encouragement and regard his counsel above all others.”
