C. Aaron LeMay, CPA, JD, MSEd, is an experienced higher education professional with 15 years of service to Texas public and independent universities. Currently, he serves as Interim Chief Financial Officer and the Vice President, Financial Accounting & Reporting, for the University
of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX. Aaron provides leadership and strategic direction to UTMB’s financial reporting, payroll and treasury functions, internal control structure, UT System and State of Texas
reporting, tax compliance, and assuring successful financial audit completion. He also is a member of various professional organizations, including NACUBO’s Tax Council, advising on tax issues of concern to the association, SACUBO’s
audit committee, and the chair of TASSCUBO’s accounting principles committee.
Previously, Aaron was the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance & System Controller for the University of North Texas (UNT) System. He oversaw UNT System’s unified controller office model for accounting, financial reporting,
external audit, internal financial controls, payments and payroll operations, and was responsible for controller operations for UNT, UNT Health Science Center, UNT Dallas and the UNT System Administration Office. Prior to transitioning to
the UNT System, he worked as the Associate Vice President for Financial Services & Controller at Sam Houston State University. In addition to his public university work, Aaron was a Research Accountant at Rice University and clerk
for Judge Brent Gamble in the 270th Civil Court, Harris County. He also held accounting positions at Baylor University and was an auditor in the Offices of Pattillo, Brown, & Hill, L.L.P. in Waco, TX.
Aaron graduated with honors from Ouachita Baptist University earning a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Biblical Studies Language and Accounting. He also graduated from Baylor University with a Master of Science in Education, emphasis on Higher
Education Student Affairs Administration, and South Texas College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Aaron is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and admitted to the State Bar of Texas. During his time working with public universities,
he completed SACUBO’s College Business Management Institute in 2014 and NACUBO’s Fellow Program in 2018. He was recognized as a Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants Rising Star in 2013 and awarded a Distinguished Fellow
of the National Education Finance Academy in 2015.
