Neurosurgery Residents

Elective Rotations

Participation in an elective rotation is not mandatory however it is encouraged. A minimum of one week is required although a 4-week period will bring the highest educational value to your experience. Applications for elective rotations will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis.

Your time at the UTMB Department of Neurosurgery will familiarize you with pre and postoperative neurosurgical care and daily procedures. Daily participation in the operating room is expected as well as in all academic conferences. Particular emphasis is placed in improving the performance of neurological exams, radiology interpretation and sound surgical judgment. It has been traditional that the candidate, at the end of the rotation will be able to do a presentation during Grand Rounds for the Department. During your stay we will also encourage you to participate in a manuscript with our residents and staff.

From a logistic standpoint we are glad to assist you in providing information regarding the Houston-Galveston area and housing possibilities for your stay.
