Important Upcoming AΩA Program Submission Deadlines
2/21/23 – Medical Student Service Leadership Project Grant
AΩA is committed to preparing future leaders in medicine and health care. Leadership is about making a positive difference and can be developed through education, observation, experience, and by working with leader mentors. Service learning provides excellent opportunities for students to develop as servant leaders. Each chapter may submit one proposal for a project funded for three years at $5,000 the first year, $3,000 the second year, and $1,000 the third year.

3/7/23 – Helen H. Glaser Student Essay Award
This award is to encourage medical students to write creative narratives or scholarly essays relevant to medicine. Winning essays will be published in the Autumn issue of The Pharos. Open to all medical school students with an active AΩA chapter. Cash awards of $1,500 for first place; $1,000 for second place; and $850 for third place.

3/14/23 – Fellow in Leadership
Because of their unique knowledge of the practice of medicine, and understanding of medicine’s core professional values, physicians are ideally suited to serve as leaders. The AΩA Fellow in Leadership program is committed to supporting the development of outstanding mid-career physician leaders. Recipients will receive $30,000 funding to be used for further development of their leadership skills through a specific year-long project. They will also receive coaching and mentorship from nationally renowned leaders in medicine to help them exemplify the qualities of leading from within, professionalism in medicine, and the concept of servant leadership.
