Time Capsule Video
Watch this fun “Back to the Future” video highlighting the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Time Capsule initiative.
May 11-15, 2026, UTMB celebrates National Health System Week and Nurses Week.
This year’s theme, Back to the Future: Honoring Our Past. Driving Our Future., reflects the legacy we share, the work happening today, and the future we are building together.
Whether you provide care in our hospitals, clinics, correctional managed care facilities, or support patients and teams behind the scenes, each of you brings heart, dedication, and commitment to our mission. Every role plays a part in shaping the future of our care and the experience we provide.
Your compassion, professionalism, and commitment to excellence are what make UTMB exceptional for our patients and their families. We simply couldn’t provide Best Care without you.
Throughout the week, teams across the health system will have opportunities to connect, have fun, and celebrate together. Participation is optional, flexible, and meant to be enjoyable, and teams are encouraged to join in however works best for them.
We hope you’re able to take part in the festivities happening across our four campuses or celebrate in your own way with your team. Wherever you are, please take a moment to reflect on the incredible role you play in our health system.
Thank you for all that you do—honoring the past, making a difference today, and helping drive our future forward.
Happy Health System and Nurses Week!
Activities and Participation Details
This year’s events are designed to reflect who we are as a health system, the legacy we carry forward, and the future we are building together.
UTMB Time Capsule Activity
We’re creating a time capsule to be opened during the UTMB 150th Anniversary in 2041.
Each department is invited to submit a letter to its future team that captures:
- What the department looks like today
- What makes the team special
- Current challenges and opportunities
- Department aspirations and goals for the next 15 years
This activity offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect, tell your department story, and leave a lasting legacy for future colleagues. Departments are encouraged to identify a lead or small group to coordinate their submission.
Submission Deadline: 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13th
