2024 UTMB Health System and Nurses Week

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you know, May 6-10, 2024 UTMB will be celebrating National Health System and Nurses Week.

The dedication, compassion, and professionalism of all of you who support our patient care mission continues to impress us every day. We could not provide Best Care without you. We hope you have a chance this week—and always—to reflect on your important role in our communities’ health.

This year’s theme is Go For the Gold. You go for the gold all day, every day. We hope you all get a chance to enjoy some of the scheduled festivities at your respective campuses. Campus agendas will be posted soon!

Every campus is encouraged to dress for the daily theme as follows:

Monday, May 6th - Opening Ceremony
Dress in colors representing the country/countries of your choice, or attire that reects the spirit of the Olympics.

Tuesday, May 7th - Lead the Way
You're a superhero, so dress like one. Wear your favorite superhero attire.

Wednesday, May 8th - Olympics Around the World
Wear accessories representing different cultures from around the world, or don yourself with beads and bling symbolizing Olympic medals.

Thursday, May 9th - Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together
Show support for your favorite sports team/athlete. Wear your favorite team attire.

Friday, May 10th - Keep the Flame Burning
Show your support and team unity. Dress in attire that reects UTMB colors or UTMB branded clothing.

NOTE: Staff are permitted to wear themed attire provided that it is paired with approved uniform bottoms and remains appropriate for their work setting.

Represent Your Team With a Flag

One of the most popular uses of a flag is to symbolize a nation or country. In this case, we encourage you to create a flag that represents your departmental team. Chose symbols, letters, words, colors, anything you like for your team flag. Make it yours. Remember to Go for the Gold! 

Feel free to use any type of material to design your flag; Paper, denim, those faded scrubs that have been in your closet since who knows when and now you feel it's the right time to utilize them... you get the idea. Brainstorm with your team and you will see first-hand the importance of teamwork and what you can accomplish together. But most of all, have fun and be creative! 

Deadline for entries is Monday, May 6 2024. Submit your entry by filling out the submission form at utmb.us/atz.

Winner will be announced on Friday, May 10th.
