Welcome to the UTMB Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) in Galveston, TX! We are thrilled to offer you a distinguished graduate level education in 8 PhD and 3 MS degree programs plus a dual MD/PhD degree program. The GSBS’ mission is to train the next generation of diverse and outstanding biomedical scientists to identify and solve the world’s most pressing health issues.

Our curriculums are carefully designed to offer you didactic learning of advanced biomedical science topics along with research opportunities spanning basic, translational, computational, and clinical research spectrums. Our graduates leave with strong foundational scientific knowledge as well as advanced communication and technical skill sets allowing them to become leaders in academia, industry, and government after graduation. Our faculty are dedicated to teaching and mentoring, and our campus is full of cutting-edge research facilities. We offer several unique resources for our trainees including the GSBS Writing Studio, various prestigious training grants (T32s), multiple partnerships with Texas Medical Center (TMC) institutions and the Gulf Coast Consortia (GCC), internal fellowship funding opportunities, annual National Student Research Forum, and more. Our goal is to provide a stellar learning environment that is innovative, safe, inclusive, and collaborative to give you the best possible future in whatever direction your interests and passions take you.
