UTMB H-COR DataThon 2026
Infections and the Aging Brain: From Real-World Clinical Data to Neurodegenerative Evidence
The UTMB Center for Health and Clinical Outcomes Research, H-COR, invites UTMB MD, PhD, and MD/PhD students to participate in a one-day interdisciplinary DataThon on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Participants will work in multidisciplinary teams to investigate how infections and infection-related interventions may be associated with later cognitive, neurovascular, and neurodegenerative outcomes using governed real-world clinical data. Teams will develop a research question, define an analytical cohort, evaluate the evidence, and prepare a concise scientific presentation. Up to five teams will advance to the final presentation session, where awards and prizes will be presented to the highest-ranked teams.
Students may apply individually or as a proposed team. Individual applicants should submit a current CV and a brief description of their academic program, scientific interests, relevant experience, and anticipated contribution to a multidisciplinary team. Proposed teams should submit the CVs of all members and a short description of their combined expertise.
Applications must be emailed to Dr. George Golovko at gegolovk@utmb.edu by 11:59 PM Central Time on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Please use the subject line H-COR DataThon Application – Individual or H-COR DataThon Application – Team.
Space is limited, and submission of application materials does not guarantee participation.
