Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite Program

UTMB supports all employees and students who choose to breastfeed and has been designated a mother-friendly worksite by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The university’s mother-friendly worksite program makes it easier for nursing mothers to return to work or school following childbirth by providing access to:

  • Private, sanitary place (other than a bathroom) for expressing milk
  • Nearby access to a clean, safe water source for washing hands and rinsing out breast pump equipment
  • Hygienic storage options to safely store breast milk; please be advised as with any personal food items, the handling/supervision of the expressed milk is the sole responsibility of the individual
  • Hospital-grade multi-user pump that may be used with the individual's own milk collection kit
  • Flexible work schedules that allow time for expressing milk
  • Information about breastfeeding and worksite lactation

Click here for more details on the Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite Program. You may also refer to these FAQs for additional breastfeeding information.
