Need to get new glasses or schedule an appointment with your primary care doctor? Or how about a visit with a specialist, such as a cardiologist or urologist? What about a wellness visit for your child?

UTMB’s new Primary and Specialty Care Clinic in Texas City combines all of those services and more into one convenient location and exemplifies the growth that UTMB has seen over the past several years. Since openings its doors in March, the spacious clinic has served more than 5,000 patients and offers both adult and pediatric primary care, as well as services in audiology, cardiology, eye and ear care, internal medicine and urology.

Clinic physicians and staff joined UTMB leaders and Texas City Chamber of Commerce members to celebrate the grand opening of the clinic on May 18 with tours and a ribbon-cutting.

Drs. Matthew Hay and Anika Bell-Gray are co-medical directors of the facility. Both expressed their excitement to be able to better serve the growing community.

“I’m pretty sure 35 years ago, when three pediatricians finished their residencies at UTMB, they had no idea that they were laying the groundwork for community-based clinics and this building,” said Hay. “Drs. Ben Raimer, Cindy Judice and Bill Noble started pediatrics just down the road. That has grown into community-based clinics in League City, Friendswood, Lake Jackson, new clinics in Alvin and Galveston, and now this beautiful new clinic in Texas City. We look forward to serving the middle and southern part of Galveston County for years to come.”

Deb McGrew, chief operating officer of UTMB Health, said the new clinic reflects UTMB’s mission to provide patient-centered care of the highest quality.

“As you tour this new facility, you’ll see a clinic that is less clinical, more inviting, more comforting and more welcoming than your typical clinic,” said McGrew. “We now have the space we need for our providers and staff to do their best work in the care of our patients. When I’ve talked to patients and families about this location, the first reaction is ‘Wow, it’s big.’ And it is big – it’s 35,000 square feet of state-of-the-art, patient-friendly space with 61 exam rooms, bringing together multiple specialties under one roof. We’re really thrilled with this location and what it offers.”

The Primary and Specialty Care Clinic is located at 10121 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway in Texas City and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, click here.
