Happy National Medical Librarians Month!

October is National Medical Librarians Month! This celebration was initiated by the Medical Library Association 25 years ago as “an annual observance that recognizes and appreciates the critical role that health information professionals play in healthcare, research, and education.”  Your library liaison  is ready to partner with you to get timely, trustworthy, and curated information to support your research, patient care, and teaching.

Annual Statistics – FY2025-2026 

  • Over 31,000 journals 

  • Over 300,000 books (electronic and print) 

  • Over 104,000 visitors 

  • Over 6,900 reference questions answered 

  • Over 1,600 literatures searches performed 

  • 115 library education sessions reaching over 2,800 participants 

As a reminder, here are just some of the ways the librarians can support you: 

  • Provide selected information and resources at your time of need 

  • Assist with identifying reputable journals for publication 

  • Provide information on open access agreements 

  • Provide information about predatory journals and conferences 

  • Assist with data management 

  • Provide expert searching, including systematic review searches 

  • Create and maintain course guides to streamline access to readings and resources
