Head shot of Amanda Newell, Reference Librarian at Moody Medical Library

Meet Amanda: National Medical Librarians Month

National Medical Librarians Month is the ideal time to meet the librarians at UTMB. The four Reference Librarians serve as liaisons to establish close working relationships with faculty and staff to provide trustworthy and curated information to support your research, patient care, and teaching.

Meet Amanda Newell, MLS, MA:

Amanda joined Moody Medical Library in January 2025. She earned her Master of Library Science (MLS) from Texas Woman’s University. She also earned her Master of Arts in History from the University of Houston Clear Lake.

Amanda is here to help navigate the evolving landscape of health sciences literature. She likes working with her faculty in her liaison departments and building course guides to make supporting materials readily available to their students. She also enjoys building search strategies to help researchers at all levels find their information needs.

She proudly serves as library liaison for the following schools/departments:

𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜: School of Nursing, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences
𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥: Neurology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
