Student Achievement

The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) evaluates success with respect to student achievement consistent with its mission and with national criteria for health-related institutions of higher learning. UTMB pursues and achieves its educational mission through the academic programs it offers in its five schools.

The measurement criteria below include Certification and Licensure Pass Rates, National Residency Matching, Employment Rates, and Graduation Rates. UTMB publishes the 8-Year IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) Graduation Rates Outcome Measure (OM) for its undergraduate programs as required by Degree-granting institutions.

The Targets/Goals are based on Program-Specific National Averages, Institutional Trends, Institutional Strategic Plans, and Peer Performance Data.

1. Certification/ Licensure Pass Rates

Graduates of UTMB’s clinical programs, with the exception of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, are required to pass a certification or licensure examination for practice.
