Dr. Meyer is a Senior Scientist I in the field of virology, immunology and vaccinology specializing in pathogens including filoviruses, paramyxoviruses, bunyaviruses, flaviviruses and other emerging viral threats (e.g. SARS-CoV-2). Experience in designing and conducting small animal and nonhuman primate (NHP) preclinical studies to support regulatory requirements for clinical trials. 14+ years of BSL-4 and BSL-3 experience, including extensive work on viral hemorrhagic fevers at the UTMB Galveston National Laboratory. Demonstrated expertise in developing and testing innovative vaccine delivery strategies (e.g. virus-vectored and mRNA) and rigorous characterization of immune correlates of protection through preclinical efficacy studies and multi-omic profiling.

Research interests include virus-host interactions, immune correlates of protection, vaccinology, host immune responses to infection or vaccination, preclinical efficacy studies, new vaccine development and delivery strategies.
