From Executive Leadership: George Gaddie appointed Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Sep 9, 2021, 10:54 AM by Jessica Wyble

I am very pleased to announce that, after our completion of a national search, George Gaddie has been named Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer, effective immediately. George had been serving in the role on an interim basis since February.

In addition to prior leadership positions in corporate IT, George has a combined 17 years of service with UTMB, including his role as Associate Vice President and Deputy Chief Information Officer prior to assuming the interim VP/CIO role earlier this year.

He has extensive experience in clinical information systems and in leading large teams to ensure quality service and a reliable IT infrastructure that is so essential to our mission. A collaborative leader, George and his staff have been involved in such major initiatives as our transition to electronic medical records and our efforts to expand access to Best Care. Since early 2020, he and the entire Information Services department have been instrumental to the success of our ongoing pandemic response.

George earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University and his Master of Business Administration degree from Houston Baptist University. He is a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer, a Fellow of the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Information Resources Leadership Institute, and a member of the Health Information and Management Systems Society and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

I want to thank the members of the search committee—chaired by Dr. Tim Harlin, Executive Vice President and Health System CEO, and Cheryl Sadro, Executive Vice President and Chief Business and Finance Officer—for their work to choose the best candidate among a strong pool of applicants.

Please join me in congratulating George Gaddie and welcoming him to his new role.

Thank you!
