A Message from the Interim Senior Vice President and Dean, John Sealy School of Medicine, and Chief Research Officer
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Center for Health and Clinical Outcomes Research (H-COR), a new university-level initiative led by Neil K. Mehta, PhD, from the Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public and Population Health. H-COR aspires to become a nationally recognized leader in health and clinical outcomes research by leveraging UTMB’s exceptional data infrastructure and multidisciplinary strengths.
H-COR will serve as a central hub to develop, support, and accelerate health and clinical outcomes research across all areas of the university. The center will partner with faculty and departments on defined research initiatives, administer pilot funding, host regular seminars, support graduate education, and promote early career development.
To advance its mission, H-COR will offer the support of a dedicated team of data analysts and will engage in close collaboration with two key institutional partners:
- The Institute for Translational Sciences (ITS), with which H-COR will maintain a collaborative relationship, combining H-COR’s expertise in outcomes research and data analytics with ITS’s robust infrastructure for translational research and clinical trials.
- The Office of Biostatistics (OBS), with which H-COR will form a strong bidirectional partnership to address complex data analysis needs. H-COR will contribute methodological expertise, while OBS will offer statistical consulting and data management support.
We warmly invite faculty from all schools to engage with H-COR through collaborative research opportunities, training programs, and upcoming events. Additional details on how to connect and participate can be obtained from Dr. Mehta.
Sincerely,
Antonio C. Bianco, MD, PhD
