A Message from the Senior VP and Dean, School of Nursing, and Chief Integration Officer, UTMB
Dear UTMB
School of Nursing Community,
I am very pleased to share exciting news with our community and
supporters. Following many years of preparation starting in 2021 and a
multi-day site visit in October 2024, our UTMB School of Nursing has
received full 10-year accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE).
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree
program in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program and post-graduate APRN
certificate program at UTMB is
accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing
Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). The CCNE Board determined that these programs have
substantially complied with all four accreditation standards and determined that there are no compliance concerns with
respect to the key elements. The next evaluation will take place in the fall
2034.
This result reflects the coordination and leadership of Dr.
Kristen Starnes-Ott and the tremendous efforts of countless individuals
across our school. I am so proud of this accomplishment and am grateful to each
member of our community for your valuable role in our success. You were each
critical to ensuring a successful reaccreditation process that helps strengthen
the UTMB School of Nursing and the educational excellence offered here that
benefits patients and communities far beyond this achievement.
Thank you to all who participated in this process, and we look
forward to continuing to improve healthcare locally and globally by advancing
nursing excellence through leadership, clinical practice, education, research
and service.
Congratulations
to our UTMB School of Nursing!
Sincerely,
Deborah J. Jones, PhD, MSN, RN, FAAN
