AmeriCorps Seniors Formerly RSVP Program of Galveston County

Americorps Seniors are volunteers over the age of 55 who engage in a variety of activities throughout Galveston County non-profit agencies. This program has been supported by UTMB’s Sealy Center on Aging for over 20 years.

Researchers in Galveston studying physical function, strength, and recovery from illness are recruiting adult subjects for their studies.

Study volunteers can learn more about their own health by participating in clinical trials. Join our mailing list to receive a quarterly newsletter with information about clinical trials, community events, volunteer opportunities, and research on aging news from UTMB.

  • 11 am “Hearing Loss, Speech Disorders and the Brain ” Presented by Dr. Michelle Saltarrelli.
    Dr. Michelle Saltarrelli earned her MS degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and her Doctorate of Audiology from LSU. She hosts her own live, monthly talk radio show on 700 AM Meet the Experts and owns Autumn Oak Speech Voice and Hearing in Friendswood.
  • Noon Light Lunch catered by Catholic Daughters District 17
  • 12:30 pm “Preserving Assets When a Family is Affected by Dementia” Presented by Attorney Sara Preston.
    Sara Preston is an Estate Planning Attorney in Pearland, Texas. She is a graduate of South Texas College of Law. She is focused on estate planning - wills, and trusts, as well as probate matters.
  • 1 pm “Exciting New Developments in the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease” Presented by Dr. Paul Schulz.
    Dr. Paul Schulz is Professor and Vice Chair, of the Department of Neurology, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. Director of the Memory Disorders and Dementia Clinic at McGovern Medical School, and Director, the Dementia Program, UTHealth Neurosciences Mischer Neuroscience Institute. 
  • 2 pm Visit Our Experts and Free Memory Screenings
