About the Study
The Galveston Heart Study is a
community-based research initiative
enrolling over 5,000 participants to
understand the various layers of
cardiovascular health.
Who Can Join?
- Be at least 30 years of age or
older
- Live in Galveston County
- Be willing to participate once a
year

What's Involved?
- Annual Visits: Meet with study staff once a year to check your heart
health: initial visit ~ 1 hr & follow-up visits ~ 30min
- Health Questionnaire: Complete a brief survey about your health,
lifestyle, and mood
- Physical Health Checks: Do short tests to check fitness and heart
health
- Reimbursement: All participants will be reimbursed for their time
Who Should Not Join? This study is designed for adults who live in Galveston County. You should not join if you are
under 30 years old, live outside of Galveston County, or are currently incarcerated. If you’re unsure whether you
qualify, our team can help answer any questions.
