Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Melissa C. Lockhart, PhD, APRN, GNP-BC is President Elect of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA) Gulf Coast Region (Dallas, Brownsville, San Antonio Region). She will take office in July, 2020. Dr. Lockhart is currently involved in Dementia Care Study (D-CARE). The Dementia Care Grant authorized GAPNA to nationally to Beta Test The Dementia Care Specialist Role and now the curriculum is offered nationally to Nurse Practitioners via GAPNA.  Dr. Lockhart Beta Tested the Dementia Care Specialist Curriculum.
