In 2025, Texas Southern University (TSU) Pepper Scholar Dr. Creaque Tyler earned Best Poster at the Geriatric Medicine Safety Symposium, highlighting the impact of the UTMB Pepper Scholars Program.

Dr. Tyler’s award-winning research was developed through the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Faculty Scholars Program and focused on improving patient outcomes through a pharmacist-led transitions-of-care “Meds-to-Beds” initiative. She also presented this work at the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Annual Meeting, gaining national recognition for advancing medication safety in older adults.

Her success reflected strong mentorship through the UTMB Pepper Center (Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center), including guidance from Dr. Melissa (Missy) Morrow and Dr. Mukaila Raji.

This achievement demonstrated how the Pepper Scholars Program continues to foster emerging leaders who drive innovation in geriatrics and improve care for aging populations.
