Congratulations to Dr. Soham Al Snih on Distinguished Research Professorship
Dear Colleagues,
The Sealy Center on Aging is proud to share that Soham Al Snih, MD, PhD, Professor in the Department of Population Health and Health Disparities, School of Public and Population Health, and a valued member of our aging research community, has been appointed to the Bertha and Robert Bucksch Distinguished Research Professorship at UTMB. Her appointment is effective April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2031.
This prestigious endowed professorship recognizes Dr. Al Snih’s exceptional contributions to the field of aging and her leadership in advancing research that addresses health disparities among older adults.
Dr. Al Snih’s work focuses on aging, frailty, and functional decline; health disparities in Hispanic populations; chronic disease and multimorbidity, including obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease; and physical activity, mobility, and fall risk in older adults. Through her scholarship, she has made significant contributions to improving our understanding of the factors that influence health and independence in later life.
In addition to her research accomplishments, Dr. Al Snih is a dedicated mentor and leader. She serves on the Administrative Core of the Texas Resource Center on Minority Aging Research, where she helps foster the development of the next generation of aging researchers. She is also a co-leader of the Pilot and Exploratory Studies Core of the Claud D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center.
