Dr. Veerawat Phongtankuel is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine. His research focuses on improving care for patients and their caregivers who are receiving hospice care. He develops interventions aimed at improving symptom management at the end-of-life and the burdens felt by both patients facing serious illnesses and their caregivers. As the Co-Director of the Office of Geriatrics Research at Weill Cornell, Dr. Phongtankuel helps facilitate research across the division, planning and implementing investigations, and disseminating study results. He has received several honors, including being named an AFAR/Hartford Foundation COE Scholar, an Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program Scholar, and the recipient of the Paul B.
