Dr. Melissa “Missy” Morrow Named Fellow of the American Society of Biomechanics
The Sealy Center on Aging (SCOA) proudly announces that its director, Dr. Melissa “Missy” Morrow, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB), the premier professional organization for biomechanics researchers and practitioners across disciplines. This distinction recognizes Dr. Morrow’s significant contributions to the field and her leadership in advancing translational science at the intersection of biomechanics, aging, and health technology.
Dr. Morrow, a renowned rehabilitation scientist and expert in aging and disability research, was appointed Director of SCOA in July 2025. She also serves as Co-Director of the National Institute on Aging (NIA)-funded Pepper Center at UTMB, where she leads innovative efforts to improve mobility, function, and independence in older adults. Under her leadership, SCOA has expanded its role in the $5 million Healthy Aging and Technology (Age-Tech) Initiative, fostering collaborations that translate cutting-edge biomechanical research into real-world solutions.
Her election as an ASB Fellow highlights her longstanding commitment to interdisciplinary research and her contributions to advancing biomechanics as a key driver of healthy aging. Dr. Morrow’s work continues to position UTMB as a leader in aging research and innovation.
SCOA congratulates Dr. Morrow on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to her continued impact on the field.
