Nir's Research Lab

Jessica AlsingPh.D. Student

Jessica Alsing

I am a Ph.D. student in the Pharmacology and Toxicology program at UTMB and joined Guy’s lab in the Spring of 2023. My research focuses on how genome structure alterations in Glioblastoma Multiforme may be driving oncogene expression and how this may contribute to the heterogeneity commonly associated with this cancer.

Before starting my Ph.D., I earned my B.S. in Marine Biology at Texas A&M University at Galveston in 2018. During my undergrad, I volunteered in the lab of Dr. Ron Eytan, studying the biodiversity of coral reef fishes. After graduation, I worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Pathology at UTMB under the mentorship of Dr. Sanjeev Sahni. We primarily worked on elucidating host-pathogen-vector interactions during the infection of pathogenic Rickettsia and Orientia species. I like puzzles, trivia, and hanging out with my cat when I am not in the lab!
