As a member of the University of Texas System – one of the U.S.’s largest public university systems – and part of the Texas Medical Center – the world’s largest medical complex – the UTMB School of Public and Population Health (SPPH) equips our graduates with the training and skills to become leaders in academia, industry, and government in the U.S. and around the world. Our mission is to lead innovative public health education, impactful research, and evidence-informed practice and policy through authentic collaborations in the Gulf Coast region, Texas, and the world.

SPPH offers a range of graduate degrees, including MPH degrees, MPH dual degrees (MD/MPH, PA/MPH, and PhD/MPH), PhDs in Bioethics and Health Humanities, Population Health Sciences, and Rehabilitation Sciences, and master’s in biostatistics, aerospace medicine, and bioethics and health humanities.

Accreditation

CEPH logoThe University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) School of Public and Population Health (SPPH) is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), and independent agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit schools and programs of public health.

On June 5-7, 2023, UTMB SPPH hosted its first CEPH accreditation site visit as a school. The UTMB public health program had been accredited by CEPH since 2002. In December 2023, SPPH received accreditation for the full five-year term as a new unit of accreditation. The final accreditation report and self-study are below:
