Aerospace Medicine Medical School Concentration

The Aerospace Medicine Concentration is designed to educate medical students currently enrolled in the UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine about Aerospace Medicine and space biomedical research. Students are introduced to aerospace physiology, space medicine and space life sciences research, and introductory course in aerospace medicine, and career opportunities.

Year 2

Year 4

  • Principles of Aviation and Space Medicine (Period 2)

Students must contribute at least 5 electives (5 months) of their medical education to aerospace medicine. Students also benefit from UTMB Health’s close relationship with the Johnson Space Center and from interactions with directors of the Aerospace Medicine Residency program at UTMB Health. Upon graduation students are recognized as “Scholars in Aerospace Medicine".

The concentration is open to applications from MS1s only annually. Application deadline is August 1.
