In honor of Heart Month and as we continue to spotlight APPs who have been recognized by their colleagues, we are pleased to highlight Kathleen Vasquez, a physician assistant from the division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

The Vincent Conti, MD Lectureship started in 2017 and was joined with two other lectureships within the Department of Surgery, namely the William J. Mileski, MD, Lectureship, and Courtney M. Townsend, Jr., MD, FACS, FRCSEd (hon) Lectureship.

In November, the UTMB Department of Surgery held its first session for the William J. Mileski, MD Lectureship Series. This lecture series will bring leaders with seminal contributions in the field of trauma and acute care surgery to share education, thoughts, and experiences with our staff and faculty, exemplifying the UTMB organizational goal of “Working Together to Work Wonders.”

The STSA Scholarship Committee has selected UTMB General Surgery Resident Cynthia Kassab, MD as one of two recipients of this 2022 scholarship among many national and international applicants.

When a patient is diagnosed with lung cancer, a multidisciplinary team approach is necessary to determine the best path forward – whether the patient needs radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, or a combination of these treatments.
