The Courtney Townsend Lectureship Series began in 2017, and focuses on leaders in surgical training and education.

The Division of Plastic Surgery recently hosted Jennifer Walden, MD, who presented three talks. Dr. Walden is an alumna of the UTMB Plastic Surgery program and is also the first woman president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

In November, the UTMB Department of Surgery held its first session for the William J. Mileski, MD Lectureship Series. This lecture series will bring leaders with seminal contributions in the field of trauma and acute care surgery to share education, thoughts, and experiences with our staff and faculty, exemplifying the UTMB organizational goal of “Working Together to Work Wonders.”

In September, UTMB was visited by Medical Illustrator Samantha Bond, who discussed the utilization of Virtual Reality (VR) in medical education, research, and clinical practice.

The University of Texas Medical Branch Department of Surgery welcomed two speakers to our grand rounds lecture series.
