Dr. Jackson's research focuses on using molecular genetic approaches, including transgenic Drosophila models, to understand the mechanisms of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer and Parkinson disease, frontotemporal lobar degeneration, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Current efforts focus on the use of conformation-specific antibodies that recognize pathological epitopes of disease-related proteins, e.g., alpha-synuclein and tau, as passive immunotherapy.
