Dr. Linda R. Rounds is the Associate Dean for Professional Development and the Betty Lee Evans Distinguished Professor of Nursing in the UTMB School of Nursing. In addition to her administrative role, Dr. Rounds teaches and supervises students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and supervises dissertations in the School of Nursing PhD program. Dr. Rounds has been involved in the education of nurse practitioners since 1984 and was instrumental in the development of distance and online education for nurse practitioners. She is interested in innovative teaching strategies that can be used in an online environment including problem-based learning, role play, and various interactive methods.

She was the recipient of numerous federal grants to support the development of innovative educational programs including online continuing education in geriatrics and in cultural competence. She has consulted nationally and internationally in the area of curriculum development for nurse practitioner education. She serves as an on-site accreditation evaluator for Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Her publications and presentations are primarily in the areas of education and geriatrics.

Dr. Rounds is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioners Faculties and several other organizations. In addition to her membership in the UTMB Academy of Master Teachers, Dr. Rounds was also a founding member of the University of Texas System Kenneth I. Shine Academy of Health Science Educators. She has also been honored with a number of awards recognizing her contributions to nursing education including the 2023 Minnie Stevens Piper Professorship. 

Dr. Rounds was inducted into the Academy of Master Teachers in 2007.
