Director 2014 - 2017

Dr. Lynn Knox, Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology became the 3rd Director of the AMT in 2014. As Vice Chair for Education and the Residency Program Director in the Department of Anesthesiology, she is responsible for coordination of graduate medical education, medical student teaching and faculty development activities. Her passion for teaching and mentoring is evidenced by her continued teaching outside the OR in both Graduate Medical Education (GME) lectures and conferences as well as her participation with medical school education as a facilitator for a small group in the Great Syndromes Course at UTMB, as an evaluator for the Integrated Clinical Evaluation Exercise (ICEE), as well as Course Director for two Anesthesiology fourth year elective rotations. Despite her teaching commitments and administrative work, Dr. Knox continues to provide direct patient care and resident “bedside” teaching as well.

Her reputation as an educator has been recognized by her induction into The University of Texas System Kenneth Shine, MD Academy of Health Science  Education in 2014 as well as her appointment as a UT Distinguished Teaching Professor in 2007, to the Arnold Endowed Professorship for Teaching Excellence in 2013 and the Potthast Distinguished Professorship in Teaching Excellence in 2014. She has been recognized by UTMB as a nominee for the national 2018 ACGME Courage to Teach Award.

Beyond the UT System, Dr. Knox is active in the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists (TSA) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) as member of several committees, is a delegate to the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ House of Delegates (HOD) and the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists’ HOD and is Chair of TSA Educational Subcommittee on Resident Training. In 2007, Dr. Knox was inducted into the Academy of Master Teachers.
