Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery
Dr. Radhakrishnan is the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and an Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Departments of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
He serves as the Vice Chair of Education and the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at UTMB. In addition, he holds the John Sealy Distinguished Chair in Clinical Research and is currently funded by the Department of Defense to study sepsis after burn injury.
Dr. Radhakrishnan completed his general surgery residency training and NIH T32 sponsored trauma research fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston, TX. He went on to complete fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Since joining UTMB in 2011, Dr. Radhakrishnan has received the Outstanding Teacher for the Year award from the Surgery Residents and the Golden Scalpel Award for the Outstanding Faculty Teacher in Surgery from the Surgery Medical Students. Dr. Radhakrishnan's education interests include didactic teaching as well as intraoperative technical skills training. In 2015, Dr. Radhakrishnan was inducted into the Academy of Master Teachers.
