Faculty Titles & Appointments

Faculty at UTMB all hold faculty appointments across four schools: John Sealy School of Medicine, School of Health Professions, School of Nursing, and School of Public and Population Health. All active faculty can hold appointments ranging from Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in all schools across four tracks: clinical, non-tenure track, tenure track, and tenured. Faculty may be members of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Faculty Appointments & Promotions

All senior faculty appointments and promotions across schools from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Associate Professor to full Professor must be brought to the respective schools' Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (APT) committee for review and approval and routed to the dean, provost and president for final approval. Any promotions including tenure must also be approved by the Board of Regents.
