An Immersive Experience at the State Capitol

In March, UTMB School of Nursing Policy & Leadership and Health Advocacy Honors students traveled to Austin for an immersive experience at the intersection of nursing and public policy.

With the support of faculty mentors, Drs. Meredith Ford, Latia Hickerson, and Jacquelyn Svoboda, and guidance from the UTMB Health Policy and Legislative Affairs team, students engaged with leaders at the Texas Nurses Association and participated in advocacy training and legislative visits at the Texas Capitol.

The experience highlighted the vital role of nursing perspectives in shaping health policy and developing future nurse leaders.
