August 2026 Message from the Senior Vice President, Provost, and Chief Academic Officer, UTMB

Dear Colleagues,

I hope everyone is enjoying the final month of summer and looking forward to the start of another exciting academic year. It has been a productive and eventful season across our institution, with even more activities and opportunities on the horizon in the coming weeks.

This month, we celebrate an important milestone for students in the School of Health Professions and the John Sealy School of Medicine Physician Assistant Studies Program as they cross the commencement stage. Congratulations to our graduates on this well-deserved achievement, and thank you to the faculty members whose guidance, mentorship, and dedication have helped them reach this moment.

At the same time, we are also welcoming new students into our academic programs – starting the cycle anew and reminding us that our commitment to educate, mentor, and inspire the next generation is ongoing. These transitions underscore the vital role education plays in advancing all of our mission areas and shaping the future of health care.

I also invite all faculty members to join us on Sept. 10 for the Faculty Recognition Reception. From welcoming students at orientation to celebrating their successes at graduation, and every milestone in between, your contributions make a lasting impact. We look forward to recognizing and celebrating the extraordinary work you do each day.

Sincerely yours,
