Welcome to the UTMB Health Education Center

The Health Education Center (HEC) is a 161,000 square foot, five story facility located on the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) campus in Galveston, Texas. For more than 130 years UTMB has been dedicated to training today and tomorrow’s healthcare workforce. The HEC is home to three core, centralized UTMB resources: The Interprofessional Simulation Center, the Office of Interprofessional Education, and the Office of Life Support Education and Training. Within the HEC, learners practice and develop skill proficiency required for team-based, safe, quality patient-centered care using evidence-based methodologies and state-of-art-technology. Map & Directions to the UTMB Health Education Center

Directions from Houston:

  • Google or Apple Maps address: 301 11th St. Galveston, TX 77555
  • Take I-45 South to Galveston. Once you arrive in Galveston, the interstate changes to Broadway St.
  • Take Broadway Street to 14th St.
  • Take a LEFT on 14th Street to Mechanic St.
  • Take a RIGHT onto Mechanic Street for 1 block and follow the solid orange line on the diagram, enter the parking garage on the left.
  • The parking garage has only two entrances with a keypad, so please ensure you use the correct entrance. Prior to your arrival and departure, an HEC representative will provide you a code to enter and a token to be used to exit the parking garage.
  • Once parked, cross the street at Mechanic & 12th St. and follow the yellow dotted line on the diagram to the HEC building main entrance.
