Drawing on qualitative research with Muslim women patients in the United States as case studies,
this talk takes a look at medical ethics concerns that emerge at the intersections of religion, 
gender, and race. Many Muslim women’s experiences in receiving healthcare and making medical 
decisions reveal that they encounter significant bias on the basis of their religion, gender, and race 
from healthcare providers, which in turn, creates ethically questionable medical situations for them. 
The talk will identify these ethical concerns and propose some mitigation strategies,
which also signal how to manage bias in healthcare in general.
