This name change reflects the institute’s strong focus on the areas of moral inquiry, research, teaching, and professional service in medicine and health care. It provides a greater representation of our faculty members’ expertise, the nature of their scholarly work, and the educational offerings of the institute. The new name is also in line with other institutions, and will allow UTMB a broader outreach. Our IBHH faculty will continue the outstanding work for which they are known in medical and graduate teaching, clinical ethics consultation, and health humanities and bioethics research in academic and public forums.
