On September 28th, 2023, IBHH Assistant Professor Dr. Stephen Molldrem published an article about molecular HIV surveillance (MHS) and cluster detection and response (CDR) program with co-authors Dr. Anthony K J Smith of the University of New South Wales Centre for Social Research in Health and IBHH PhD Student Vishnu Subrahmanyam. The paper reports findings from a 2021 interview study with 26 US HIV stakeholders who self-identified as being critical or concerned about the rollout of MHS/CDR programs as part of routine public health practice since 2018. These programs have been the source of substantial controversy and debate in public health policy and ethics.
