Johnna Wellesley, a PhD candidate in the Department, together with Ava McGuire (UT Austin), Aleena Asaria (UT Austin), Dr. Carolyn Phillips (UT Austin), and Dr. Tyler Jorgensen (Dell Medical School), was awarded first place in the student poster award for “The Power of Storytelling: A Novel Curriculum Strategy to Re-Engage Physician Interns, Residents, and Fellows in the Art of Medicine.”
Beth Hawkins, Rebekah Brown and Shayna Edwards (Medical students working with Faculty Member Dr. Emma Tumilty) received an honorable mention for their poster ““UTMB Food Pantry “The Picnic Basket” Student Usage Outcomes.”
Trevor Murphy, Jeffrey Bowcut and David Essex presented and had a poster on the topic of “Exploring the Role of Folk Illness in Modern Medicine: A Discussion on Enhancing Cultural Competence in Healthcare Education”
