UTMB is implementing Cyera Omni, a data protection and monitoring solution that helps identify and reduce the risk of sensitive information being improperly shared, transferred, or exposed.

Cyera monitors activity across platforms such as Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams to identify potential data protection concerns requiring review.

What You Can Expect

As part of this initiative, you may receive a UTMB-branded notification when Cyera identifies a potential data protection concern involving information you own, access, or have shared.

These notifications are legitimate communications from UTMB’s security team and may include details about the identified activity, a link to review it, and remediation instructions when necessary.

The goal of Cyera is to help protect sensitive information while supporting legitimate business activities. Receiving a notification does not necessarily mean a policy violation has occurred; it may simply indicate that an activity requires review.

Protecting Sensitive Information

Everyone at UTMB plays an important role in protecting sensitive information. Please remember to:

• Verify recipients before sending sensitive information.
• Review file-sharing permissions before sharing documents.
• Use UTMB-approved tools and processes for sharing sensitive information.
• Review and respond to Cyera notifications when received.
