The Operational Security team at UTMB is dedicated to safeguarding the institution’s digital ecosystem through advanced cybersecurity strategies and technologies. Our mission is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of institutional data while enabling secure, efficient operations across all endpoints. We proactively identify and mitigate risks to maintain a resilient security posture that supports all UTMB academic, clinical, and research objectives.

What We Do

Endpoint Protection

We protect UTMB devices from malware, viruses, and other threats to keep systems secure and running smoothly.

Domain Name System (DNS) Security

We secure web and network activity at the endpoint level to prevent access to malicious or risky destinations.

Vulnerability Management

We identify, assess, and help remediate security weaknesses across systems to reduce organizational risk.

Data Encryption

We ensure sensitive data is protected through encryption, helping safeguard information even if devices are lost or stolen.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

We strengthen account security by requiring additional verification, helping prevent unauthorized access.

Security Monitoring Infrastructure

We support and maintain the systems that collect and analyze security data used to detect and respond to threats.

System Configuration & Patch Management

We ensure devices are properly configured and regularly updated to protect against known vulnerabilities.

Privileged Access Management (PAM)

We control and monitor elevated access to critical systems, reducing the risk of misuse or compromise.

Security Tool Integration

We connect and optimize security technologies to improve visibility, coordination, and response across the environment.

Mobile Device Management (MDM)

We secure and manage mobile devices to ensure they meet security standards while supporting productivity.
