It is imperative that applicants and their mentor(s) read all instructions carefully and follow them exactly. Applications which do not adhere to the instructions will be rejected without review.

Please download the predoctoral application package. It is a ZIP file with all application documents included. Read the file named Predoc-App-Instructions.pdf first. Please click here to be taken to the Zip file.

All applications for McLaughlin Fellowships are subject to extensive peer review and must adhere to the required format and length.

All applicants must have a UTMB mentor who will assume scientific and ethical responsibility for the conduct of the research project and training of the fellow. The mentor and faculty of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences are responsible for developing a training environment for all McLaughlin predoctoral fellows. Likewise, the mentor must provide suitable research laboratory space for the McLaughlin postdoctoral fellow to conduct his/her scientific investigation. Should problems between McLaughlin fellows and faculty mentors arise that might hinder the fellow’s training, the McLaughlin Committee will evaluate the matter and take action to protect the rights of both the fellow and faculty member.
