In 2007 UTMB held the first Professionalism Summit hosted by the President's Office and the Professionalism Committee on October 2, 2007. The keynote speaker was Jordan J Cohen, Chairman, Academic Affairs Committee and former president and CEO of the Association of American Colleges. The topic was entitled "Professionalism: A New Covenant for a New Era."  The summit included a professionalism retreat and roundtable discusion.
