Professionalism at UTMB Health

All Student Orientation August 22, 2016

Annually the Professionalism Committee is asked to present at the All Student Orientation to provide an overview of Professionalism within UTMB. Highlights include a brief description of the Professionalism Charter, how professionalism is embodied by UTMB's values, providing examples of unprofessionalism behavior, reporting incidents of disruptive behavior using the Professionalism Concern Note on line form, consequences of not reporting, and other reporting mechanisms. For the last couple of years, the student representatives from the Professionalism Committee have shared the stage with one of the Co-chairs talk to the incoming students about relevant issues, such as classroom etiquette and use of social media.

This year's spaker was Dr. Mark Holden, Co-chair, Edna S. and William C. Levin Professor in Internal Medicine; Director, Division of General Internal Medicine; Vice Chair for Undergraduate and Continuing Medical Education, Department of Internal Medicine; Emeritus Scholar, John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine.
