Jeanna Leek joined UTMB as a research laboratory volunteer in December 2000.  Her current position began in 2012 as a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst for the Office of Regulated Non-clinical Studies (ORNcS) in the Provost’s Office, where she audits and evaluates data from nonclinical facilities, systems, records, contracts and studies to determine quality and compliance with study protocols, policies, standard operating procedures, applicable regulations and guidelines. Additionally, she performs investigations, internal audits, host sponsor audits and regulatory inspections. She also performs an educational role sharing and interpreting regulatory information with researchers, husbandry staff, PIs and Study Directors.   

 She has over 23 years of experience in a range of areas, consisting of laboratory research, molecular assays, experimental design, regulatory education, post approval monitoring of animal research protocols and quality assurance for regulated studies. She is a certified Regulatory Quality Assurance Professional in the FDA Good Laboratory Practices (RQAP-GLP certification). She also served as a co-developer of UTMB's Post Approval Monitoring (PAM) program (2008-2012), while collaborating with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), before joining the ORNcS Quality Assurance Unit (QAU). She started her full-time UTMB career as a Laboratory Research Technician and worked in a variety of molecular biology research laboratories (2002-2008).  

 Jeanna calls Galveston Island her home, and when she’s not working, she enjoys all water and beach activities along with traveling as much as possible.
