Federal Select Agent Regulations

The possession, storage and use of biological agents and toxin that have been identified by the US government (CDC/USDA Federal Select Agent Program (FSAP)) as a potential terrorist threat are strictly regulated.  The Department of Biosafety works with UTMB Galveston National Laboratory (GNL)/Keiller Complex leadership, High Containment Laboratory Directors, PIs, research staff, UTMB Police, Animal Resources Center, BOF Facilities and Maintenance, Biocontainment Engineering and UTMB executive leadership to ensure the safety and security of the select agents as wells as maintaining our FSAP registration.  Biosafety is responsible for managing the UTMB Select Agent program.
