Dr. Xu Appointed President-Elect of CHPAMS

Dr. Huiwen Xu, Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine and Population Health and UTMB Pepper Center Scholar has been appointed President-Elect of the China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS)

Huiwen Xu, PhD, is a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in the School of Public and Population Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Xu’s research focuses on aging, long-term care, cancer survivorship, and machine learning using large administrative data. He was recently selected as an RL5 Pepper Scholar by the UTMB Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC) and has participated in multiple NIH-funded projects in cancer survivorship (R01, U01, UG1, R21, etc.). Dr. Xu has published over 48 peer-reviewed articles in leading medical journals including LancetJAMA OncologyHealth Services ResearchMedical Care, and JAMDA; he coauthored one book chapter and over 80 scientific abstracts. His work has been cited 1,000+ times. Dr. Xu currently serves on the Executive Committee of AcademyHealth Methods and Data Council and Analytics Core of Cancer and Aging Group. Dr. Xu was an Associate Editor of BMC Health Services Research and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for over 15 scientific journals such as Lancet Oncology, JCO, AJPH, and JAMA Network Open. Dr. Xu received several national and international awards, including the Best Abstract Award from CHPAMS 2021 Annual Symposium, Best Poster Award from Denver Post-Acute Care Conference, and Student Volunteer Award from AcademyHealth LTSS Interest Group, etc. He received his PhD in Health Services Research and Policy with Data Science training in 2019 from the University of Rochester Medical Center.
