Hepatitis C virus is the major cause of chronic liver disease worldwide, and
there is no vaccine for the control of infection. Using an array of
immunological tools in our laboratory, we are currently working to comprehend
why immune responses in some individuals lead to viral clearance while in others
result in chronic inflammation. Additional research efforts are directed at
seeking hepatitis C virus vaccines and exploring the potential of the immune
system in antiviral defense.
