Dr. Porterfield is a Clinical Assistant Professor in UTMB's Department of
Family Medicine. She is passionate about preventative medicine, caring for the
underserved, and global health, and has as strong interest in the impact that
vaccines can have worldwide. In addition to having lived all over the world, she
has been active in outreach and global health organizations since early in her
medical school career. She served as a member of the board of Servants to Asia's
Urban Poor and has volunteered on medical mission trips to many underserved
communities, including ones in Cambodia, Costa Rica, Indonesia, and Mexico.
Dr. Porterfield joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2014 after
completing her residency with the UTMB Health Family Medicine Residency Program.
She earned a bachelor's of arts from Wheaton College and a doctor of medicine
from Baylor College of Medicine.
